Requirements for License
1. Application of License.
2. Application fee of $175.00.
3. License fee of $325.00 (issued every 2 years).
4. Have successfully completed high school or
5. Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
6. Copy of certificate of completion of 60 hrs
of home inspection course work from an

approved by the state of Mississippi to fulfill
7. Copy of certificate of liability for 2 insurances
required for licensure.
*General Liability insurance, $250,000/occurence
*Errors & Omissions insurance, $250,000/occurence
8. Copy of pass of NHIE (National Exam)
(Book your exam on the NHIE website)
9. Home Inspectors licensed in another state
must satisfy one of the following requirements.
*A valid certificate of certification, registration or
home inspector license in good standing issued by
another state which has requirements for licensure
substantially identical to those of this state.
*or has passed the examination offered by the
American Society of Home Inspectors or the
National Association of Home Inspectors
If an applicant would like to perform inspection
services on new construction, applicant must
submit the following items:
1. Copy of residential home builders license from
the MS Board of Contractors.
2. Certification by the Southern Building Code
Congress or any other national professional
